Traffic Violations Processed by Other Agencies

- DUI (Driving Under the Influence) violations are handled by the Criminal Department.

- Parking tickets are not dealt with by the Traffic Division. For information on a parking ticket, e-mail the law enforcement agency listed on the ticket.

- Juvenile traffic infractions, which were earlier handled by Juvenile Court, are now dealt with by the Traffic Division (Juvenile Traffic School). Juvenile traffic misdemeanors are still handled by Juvenile Court.

Scheduling a Court Appearance

All minors are required to show in court with a parent or legal guardian. If you have reached the age of 18, you may appear on your own behalf. Failure to show may derive in a suspension of your driver’s license and must attend Juvenile Traffic School. If you do not have a driver’s license, notice can be sent to the Department of Motor Vehicles to prohibit an issuance of a driver’s license.

Proof of Correction plus a negligible fee may be essential for certain violations. Proofs of Correction must be presented to the Court at the time of your appearance or payment. Attending a Juvenile Traffic School is not compulsory after the court appearance.
